Jill Roberts – Keynote Speaker
Jill grew up in KZN and has worked with children in various fields for the last 18 years. In 2007 she was employed by her church in Durban, Church of the Good Shepherd, to lead their Children’s Ministry. In December 2012 Jill felt called to leave Durban and move to Port Elizabeth to join a relating church there called Joy To The Nations, and is currently leading their Children’s Ministry. She has a passion in teaching children the Word of God and seeing them know and grow in their identity in Christ.

Ad and Karin Scheurwater – Kings Kids South Africa
Ad and Karin are from the Netherlands and they have three children. In 2002, after completing the Family Discipleship Training School in the Netherlands, they moved with their family to South Africa to work with YWAM. They did a PCYM Course (Principles in Child and Youth Ministry) in Cape Town with the University of the Nations and in 2007 moved to Johannesburg to start King’s Kids ministry. A year later they became the national co-ordinators for King’s Kids South Africa, which now operates from Durban. Their passion is to train children, youth and their families in hearing God’s voice and to see them released in their God-given destiny.

Karen Lombard – Grace Family Church
Karen Lombard is married to Hank and has three beautiful daughters. She has been the Children’s Ministry Director at Grace Family Church for the last 8 years and is passionate about serving children’s workers and setting them up to win. She believes that the church needs to partner with families to help children discover who Jesus is and develop a meaningful relationship with him.

Freeman Muswaka – Sethani Community Centre
Freeman Muswaka is originally from Zimbabwe but has lived in South Africa since 2006. He is passionate about young people and sharing life skills. He works at Sethani Community Centre as their Resource Centre Co-ordinator/Youth worker. He believes Christ is the hope of the World.

Lerato Machabe – Deputy Supervisor of Inkanyezi Crèche
Besides being a devoted wife Lerato is also a mother and caregiver to 8 children. She and her family live in Jamaica, Chesterville

Heidi Wit – Principal of Inkanyezi Crèche and Community Care Centre.
Heidi came from the USA as a young missionary. Being a mother of 4 and grandmother of 2, she is passionate about ‘intentional’ parenting.

Clare Whittaker – Soul Action
Clare moved to South Africa, from England, in January 2012 to join Soul Action as their Children’s and Family Work Coordinator. She brings to this role 15yrs experience working with children and families in a number of different contexts and an MA in Children’s and Youth ministry.

Rachel Smither – Key of Hope
Rachel began singing in church when she was 2 years old and has been leading people into worship ever since. Formal training in music theory combined with over 20 years of experience in children’s ministry have helped produce top notch children’s choirs both in the U.S.A. and South Africa. She and her children’s choir from Durban recently returned from a 6 week concert tour in the United States. She is passionate about her faith, her family and her music ministry.

Phil Bowyer – Co-founder, Soul Action
Phil is one of the Directors at Soul Action, where he is responsible for leading the team and facilitating opportunities for people who are passionate about integral mission to address various forms of poverty by networking, training and working together. Phil is the author of several books on integral mission including Express Community, A Different World and The Whole Wide World. In his spare time Phil enjoys extreme sports like spinning, squash, table tennis and football (soccer) – League One Port Vale are his team of choice!

Rachel Bowyer – Co-founder, Soul Action
Rachel is one of the co-founders of Soul Action South Africa, which is a network of Christians who interact, share ideas, resources and all sorts of needs. Rachel is an experienced teacher who is qualified to teach adults and children with Specific Learning Difficulties. She has developed an award winning literacy programme which trains local people how to support teachers and teaches 1,450 children to read and write in English on a day to day basis. She is has a fourteen year old son, Zachary, who is passionate about Liverpool Football Club and Cycling.

Justin Foxton – Peace Agency
Justin is an internationally recognized expert in the arena of viral and word-of-mouth marketing. His work in this field has won a number of local and international awards. He writes for a number of publications and websites including The Mercury and South Africa the Good News and is a regular voice on local radio stations. Justin and his wife Cathy founded The Peace Agency (NGO) which administrates Bright Stars, The Baby Houses, and The Adoption Companion.

Ruth Stapleton – Brightstars Mentoring Programme
Ruth’s background is in programme setup and management in the child protection sector with emphasis on adoption. Her experience in this field has led to involvement in youth mentorship and empowerment.

Tamryn Coats
Tamryn has a passion for working with children and has been involved in various child centered occupations over the years including teaching abroad. She has a MA in research and an MA in Psychology and has worked within youth ministry in the church context as a sunday school and youth facilitator at Westville Presby church in KZN. Tam currently resides in Johannesburg and is working in research and private practice with children and adolescents.
