SESSION 3.1: Listening for God’s words, the Power of a Whisper, Michelle Taylor

Power of a Whisper is a course that Michelle Taylor has facilitated as part of her role at Grace Family Church.  Bill Hybels (Willow Creek) revealed the attitudes and actions that help us hear directly from heaven as we navigate the most significant challenges on earth.

SESSION 3.2: Reading God’s word, Lectio Divinia, Christine van Straaten
Lectio Divina (Latin for divine reading) is a traditional Benedictine practice of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of God’s Word. It does not treat Scripture as texts to be studied, but as the Living Word.  Christine introduced the method, lead participants through the process and offered helpful tips and tools.

SESSION 3.3: The Art of Listening and Facilitation, Francis Njoroge
Francis has dedicated his life to creating space where people can share their dreams and challenges by mastering the art of listening.  In this session he shares from his experience how through facilitation he’s seen individuals and communities inspire one another, discover common values, build commitment, grow to value contribution and begin to recognize each other’s potential rather than their poverty.

SESSION 3.4: All Around The World, Jenny Flannagan

SESSION 8.1: Making a Difference Where You Are. Dave Richter
How do we connect our faith with our daily lives? How do we fit with God’s mission to restore the world to Him?  Exploring some resources e.g. ’Inside Out’ is a six week DVD course produced by Evangelical Alliance, Livability and Tearfund – designed to help individuals, churches and small groups to integrate their words and actions to help bring change to their community.

SESSION 8.3: Fresh Expressions and Missional Church, Revd Ben Aldous
Emil Brunner has said, “The church exists by mission just as a fire exists by burning.” A church that does not place mission at its foundation is no church at all.  A Fresh Expression is a form of church for our changing culture established primarily for the benefit of people who are not yet members of any church.

8.4: Are You Sitting Comfortably? God in the Government, Andy Flannagan
Are we just passive viewers of culture, politics and society, or do we believe we can get out there on the pitch?  What stops us seeing politics as mission?  Andy shared some of his experiences of working in the Houses of Parliament in London.
